Location: Fairfield House - Nelson, New Zealand
Fairfield House, Nelsons city heritage mansion, is owned by all New Zealanders and can be hired as a venue for any occasion.
The distinctive tower on the west end of the building was originally built to mount a large telescope and cater for Arthur's hobby of astronomy. The house was lived in by generations of the family until 1922 when the property was passed to the fledgling Nelson Girl's College who used it as a prep school and boarding house.
Nelson Colleges used the mansion for over fifty years and generations of Nelson's youngsters knew it as their home away from home. (The ballroom was the common room!). By 1976 the students had gone to new hostels, a fire had destroyed the accommodation block and the old building was derelict. The end seemed inevitable.
Allan Stanton and friends thought otherwise. With passion and energy to suit the times, they took on the bureaucratic apathy, and won the right to begin a long struggle.
Today after twenty years of restoration and partly because of the process, Fairfield is the pride of Nelson. Community energy continues to develop a center for the city that is a loved and living venue for events and the arts. Quick Findings: 1. - Unexplicable black object picked up on wireless night vision camera 2. 2. - Mysterious blurred object in photograph. 3. - Knocking sound picked up on Audio recording.
Findings -
The investigation began at 10.30pm with us setting up our gear and testing it in each room. Due to the house' size there was a little interference with the wireless night vision cameras, but we got it all sorted.
Two rooms were of particular interest within the house. The end main bedroom upsatirs and a bedroom on the opposite side of the house. Main Bedroom - Our host informed us that the original owners mother had died in this room and on occassions had experienced peripheral vision apperitions in this room - and indeed in other areas of the house.
Far Bedroom - A number of guests and other people, totally unrelated, have had feelings in this room to the extent that they no longer wished to sleep in the room. Others have apparantly had dreams of a woman which they had all felt was very real.
Video Evidence : During our video surveylance we picked up a number of things mostly ranging from dust particals, bugs and flies etc. All these things appeared white or very bright on the cameras due to the night visions light beams. On three occasions however, we picked up a misterious object flying accross the landing, all disappearing what seemed to be the staircase or bedroom opposite. We found it very strange that any object would appear as black on the cameras as all other objects we ever pick up are white. We couldnt explain these anomolies.
Photo Evidence : In the main bedroom during many hours of photogrpahing and video filming we found that on one of the photos, in a series of similar shots, one photo had a strange blurred type object above the door frame. See below.
